From Teams to Techos (roofs)

Here we are finally. Sorry it has been so long since we've posted anything. Life has been going at a very rapid pace. The month of July was spent with hosting a team from Christ Community, having a young man from Omaha serving with us for 3 weeks, and then hosting a group of 3 ladies. Our daughter Heather was also here in Guatemala the whole month of July and we really enjoyed having her! The month of August was spent trying to get Vickie back to health. She spent half of the month in Costa Rica having surgery and recovering.

Norman and others started a big work project in June and finished it up at the end of July. They constructed a new roof over the existing outdoor kitchen where meals are cooked and the kids eat. It turned out really nice! The next step is to build a half wall to divide the eating area from the dining area and then put in a tile floor. It will be exciting when it is done! Below are before, in progress, and after pictures.

  1. Norman,
Awesome job with the room, I am glad to see you are in your element (building). And certainly the great help of your friends. Glad to hear Vicki is getting her strength back. Miss you guys. The Kleckners

  2. This looks like quite a large undertaking! Did you have good equipment or did you do a lot by hand? I am so glad Heather could visit! We are praying for you often. I love that you are serving God in such a tangible and obedient way. -Sara Scholtens

  3. WOW! It looks awesome! What a beautiful improvement to the best place on the planet:>)

May many meals be prepared and shared under that great roof with lots of precious children.

    I miss the kids!
